From the Pastor's desk:

Dear Ritter Family,

Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

As we step into the month of November, my heart is drawn to that familiar theme of thanksgiving. The changing leaves, the crisp air, and the gatherings around family tables all seem to whisper the same reminder: “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His steadfast love endures forever” (Psalm 107:1).

John Wesley often spoke of the Christian life as one marked by grace upon grace—prevenient, justifying, and sanctifying. Each movement of God’s grace invites us into deeper gratitude. Gratitude, after all, is not merely a polite response to blessings received, but a way of living that recognizes God’s presence in every season.

In a world that often rushes past wonder, the people called Methodists have long sought to live with hearts strangely warmed—hearts alive to God’s goodness and alert to the needs of our neighbors. This November, I invite you to cultivate what Wesley called practical divinity: faith that takes root in daily acts of thanksgiving, mercy, and holiness.

Let us be a thankful people:
  • Thankful for the grace that has gone before us, drawing us ever closer to Christ.

  • Thankful for the justifying love that assures us we are forgiven and free.

  • Thankful for the sanctifying Spirit that continues to perfect us in love.

As we prepare for the close of another year, may we do so with renewed devotion and a deep sense of gratitude. May our lives—individually and as a church—shine with the warmth of God’s love in a world that desperately needs light.
With love and thanksgiving in Christ,

Pastor Steven Bales
